Join Certified Sake Sommelier Akisa Fukuzawa on Friday, May 7th, for a virtual event that is certain to put a smile on your face! She will teach us about sake and the culture behind the drink. We will be tasting 3 types of sake - Sparkling (Mio brand), Daiginjo (Dassai brand), and Ginjo (Kikusui brand). Please note this event is only for those at least 21 years of age. --About the Presenter-- Akisa Fukuzawa has studied and worked both in her native country of Japan and the United States for over 28 years in a variety of industries and sectors. While Akisa was serving as Executive Director for the non-profit Japan America Society of Central Ohio (JASCO) in 2014, she organized a sake tasting event at a downtown Columbus Japanese restaurant and was inspired by the sake sommelier who she hired. Since then, she studied to become a sake sommelier herself and was officially certified by the Food & Beverage Specialists Organization in Japan in 2016. Akisa focuses on two areas related to sake: public education and sake tasting events. Since sake is very unique to Japanese culture, she believes that explaining the cultural background and history of sake is just as important as talking about the production process and tasting the different flavors.
