Germania Society of Cincinnati, an all-volunteer organization, has scheduled a dozen "Biergarten Experience" events with German food, bier and music. The Biergarten Experience is a laid-back gathering appropriate for all ages, patterned after the biergartens that first sprang up in the mid-19th century in Munich, Germany, on the grounds of beer cellars. Germania Park’s 16-acre field provides ample room for people to spread out in a "socially distanced" setting to safely enjoy themselves. The event runs 5-10 p.m. but food service stops at 8 p.m.
NEW this year: fill a 1.89-liter Growler with your favorite German bier! A new Growler costs $30, including the jug; refills are $20.
Dates for the Saturday Biergarten Experiences, 5 p.m. to 10 p.m.: April 24; May 1, 8, 15; June 5, 12, 19, 26; July 10, 24, 31; Aug. 7. Admission is free for the Biergarten Experiences, but fees will be charged for the expanded Big Biergarten Experiences, held on two weekends, Fridays through Sundays, Aug. 20-22 and Aug. 27-29.
As the name implies, the Big Biergarten Experience (BBE) is a larger version of the Biergarten Experience, with more choices for food, drinks and expanded entertainment lineups, along with a booth stocked with German merchandise.
Come and enjoy fun and fellowship. Cheers...or as the Germans say, "Prost!"
